Your body is a workout tool! In all actuality, we all don’t need to go to the gym and hit the weights or the elliptical. We can all get an exceptional workout using just our bodies.
Start by putting on a pair of plus size bike shorts and aplus size sports bra or a plus size t-shirt, something flexible and comfortable. Take a jog around the neighborhood, to loosen up and to get your heart rate up. Run to an elementary school or a local park if there is one in your area.
The best bodyweight exercise is one that we all know about, the push up. The push is a great fat burning exercise. Do 3 sets of 10 standard pushups. For optimal benefit, after you push-up, hold for five seconds. Find a wall and do an inclined push up against the wall, making a 45 degree angle with your body against the wall. Do 3 sets of 10, for the inclined push-up. Find a bench and do 3 sets of 10 decline push-ups, by resting your feet on the elevated bench, while your hands are on the ground, creating a decline.
Next, tone your legs by doing lunges and squats. This will tighten up the loose areas and turn your fat into muscle. You will easily be able to notice that you are actively burning the fat because you will feel the burn.
Remember that muscle building is the fastest and best fat burning exercises. Contrary to popular belief, sit-ups and cardio are horrible fat burning exercises. Cardio will only decrease your amount of muscle, while holding onto the fat. You can get the same benefit of doing 1000 sit-ups as you would by walking a mile around a track.
With these basic exercises, you have just worked out your upper and lower body. You have isolated muscles, burned fat, and calories. The best thing of all, it was all free! No gym membership, no crowds, no machines, it was all you! We are plus size women and we wear plus size women's clothing. It sounds cliche, but we have real curves. My body is voluptuous and I am not using that as a euphemism and I feel great. We all have our secrets to feeling confident and looking slim that we've picked up. Here are some ways that I accentuate my shape and highlight my features:
I use the Cellulite Smoothers bike shorts, under most of my clothing, daily at work. They really hold and shape my body, especially when I wear them under pants. Under certain tops, I use the plus size cami bra to smooth and flatten, it lifts and holds as well. As I wrote in a previous post, the plus size leggings are the perfect accessory under my tunics and skirts and help to shape my legs. These accessories are light and not restrictive. They are flexible and best of all versatile, I get a lot of use out of these pieces. I'm sure all of you women have your secrets, these are a few of mine that I feel work well. Fall is upon us, the leaves are changing color and the temperature is falling. This doesn’t mean that we plus size women still can’t wear our cute tunics and skirts. The secret to fall and winterclothing for plus size women is layering. Add a pair of plus size leggings under any tunic and look fashionable and fit as the leggings contour to your shape. Plus, since its fall, darker colors are appropriate so a pair of black plus size women's leggings are perfect.
Be careful ladies, when adding leggings to your outfits. Here are 3 Laws of Leggings when adding this accessory to your outfit:
-When wearing leggings, try to not pair them with a fitted or tight top. The fitted leggings need to be balanced with a roomier blouse.
- Although we all used to do it in the early 90’s, in 2009, the “Kelly Kapowski” look no longer works. So ladies, please no sweatshirts with your leggings, at least not in public.
- Most importantly, plus size leggings are an accessory, and used for layering. Always wear a tunic, skirt, or pants as your main piece of bottoms. I am a busy woman just like most or all of you. Time is a huge issue, but I still want to take care of myself and have my alone time. That’s exactly why I go to the gym every other day. But, right after the gym, I usually have errands to run: groceries, picking up dinner for the family, picking up something from the mall. I need plus size women’s clothing that I can work out in and wear to any of these places and not look like a total wreck. The perfect pair is my plus size black yoga pants and my white plus size cami bra with a hoodie.
First of all, these two are comfortable and stretchy. So when I’m in downward dog or doing some light cardio, I’m not in the perfect outfit. My cami bra is also very supportive in all the right places; it hugs my body and keeps everything in place. I feel comfortable in these clothes because they really help to only show the curves that I want people to see and hide those that I’m trying to work on. When I leave the gym, the yoga pants and cami are cute and modest enough to wear to the store or to pick up the kids.
I have a few different pairs of yoga pants and cami bras in different colors and that’s usually my go-to workout outfit. These 5 Mini-Workouts Barely Make You Break A Sweat
