I've been looking for some new shoes recently and have been hinting my husband to get me a new pair for Christmas.  I love shoes!  Yes, I am one of those girls.  Some of us love purses, some of us love make-up, I am a shoe girl.  I love wearing my pumps with my plus size leggings, it makes me feel like my legs feel slim and sexy.  Here are three of my new favorites:

It is getting cold!  The wind had definitely picked up and it is raining.  I do hate it when my clothes are soaked and the wind goes right through my plus size leggings or bike shorts that I am wearing to try to stay warm.  I have been reading my favorite online sites,  The Frisky and Nylon Magazine, and they both feature an article on waxing your clothes.  I know!  I've never heard of that either!

The wax is called Greenland Wax from Fjällräven.  It helps to insulate and water proof your clothing.  Its used by a lot of outdoors-men and hikers to stay dry and warm.  It literally looks like a wax bar of soap.  It has great packaging too, the Earthy-feel that Burt's Bees goes for.  It is pretty easy to use as well.  Just literally rub the wax over your garment (but DO NOT use on silk or cashmere), then seal the wax onto your clothes by heating it with an iron or a blow dryer.  Now you have a wax coating on your clothes that is light, wind resistant, and water proof.

I know what you are all saying, "Doesn't the wax ruin your clothes?"  It is actually very simple to remove, just throw in the washing machine and the wax comes right off.

I haven't tried this product yet, but I plan to.  If it works, I think this will be a perfect little Christmas gifts to friends on the east coast and in Chicago, I think they will love it!.

The way you style your hair and makeup can make a great outfit look awful.  Just like plus size clothing trends change with each season, so do make-up and hair trends.  This fall and winter start thinking old Hollywood, 80s, safari prints, and plenty of black. 

Keep the color combinations at a minimum.  If you are going to be creative make sure that you know how to pair two colors that will accentuate each other.  If not, stick to these four:

• Red & Black

• Black & White

• Gray & Black

• Gold & Black

Whatever color your hair might be, if it isn’t long it might be time to consider extension’s.  Straight, light waves and updos are perfect this season.  If you aren’t a hair person keep it simple by trying these five styles:

• Straight

• Straight Ponytails

• Center Parts

• Light Waves

• Twisted Updos

This season is all about the old Hollywood look with a little hint of safari.  Think Jean Harlow hair, Audrey Hepburn’s little black dress, Heather Locklear’s eyes, and Rachel Weisz “The Mummy” look.  Make your eyes and lips pop with these must haves:

• Smokey Eyes

• Dramatic Eyes

• False Eyelashes

• Red Lips

• Pink Lips

• Glowing Cheeks

Although the economy is bad, a girl’s closet should never go through a recession.  Adding plus size clothing pieces here and there keeps your wallet big and your closet even bigger.  The more versatile your pieces are the better the value.

Leather

It’s time to steal that leather jacket that’s been hiding in your grandma’s closet.  Actually, you might want to grab those boots you thought were hideous when you were a teenager.  Leather’s seemed to make its way beyond the jackets and into pretty much every article of clothing. A great way to keep yourself warm this winter season.

Boots

Over the knee and thigh high boots seem to be a key fashion staple this season.  Rock your boots over jeans or your plus size leggings.  The suede’s and wound bound leathers look great with short dresses and skirts.  Don’t be afraid to buy a pair or two!!

Leggings/Tights

If you haven’t gone out and purchased a pair of distressed, destroyed, ripped leggings you are missing out.  Just like ripped jeans these neo-Grunge inspired leggings are a big hit.  Paired under a dress or over the knee boots there isn’t a reason you shouldn’t have a pair. 

Knits

It’s all about texture this winter season.  From knitted sweaters to knitted dresses the best knits are the chunky scarves that grazed the runways.
